Here's your tip of the day!
Need to make a mid-week stop at the grocery store? If you only need a couple of items then get a hand basket, not a art. The more space you have, the more likely you will fill it up with things you never intended to buy in the first place. Only need milk and bread? Better yet--don't take a basket at all, then you'll just have your own two hands to carry the items you NEED to the checkout.

Tip of the day is here!
Slugs can be a real pest. They love to eat up summer plants like hostas and veggies. Here's a surefire way you can be rid of the little critters:
Bury a cup into the ground near that plants the slugs are offending. Leave the rim about one inch above the ground and fill with beer. Yes, beer. Any ole beer will do, even old stuff from the back of the fridge. Slugs love that yeasty smell and are drawn to it and fall in and drown.

Tip of the day, y'all!
Did you know that many major stores offer an opportunity to get a price adjustment? Yes, it's true! Some stores offer anywhere from a week to a month to bring back the receipt for an item you purchased and receive the difference back in a refund if it goes on sale AFTER you already purchased it at regular price. Check it out.
I am proud to announce that Free 2 Be Frugal has been given a mention in Power Moms, a new book by Maria Bailey, CEO of BSM Media. I am proud to be a part of the MomSelect Program and to be able to help shape and influence marketing to and with other mothers!

Tip of the day time is here!
Want to stretch that meat budget? Try stuffing chicken. It is much more filling than simply preparing plain ole chicken breasts and it is easy to do. Here is a great how-to video.

Tip time! Tip of the day is on it's way...
Simplify your menu plan. Trying lots of new recipes can be fun, but if money is tight trying new things may waste money. You may have to buy several ingredients you have never used before and may not use again. Not to mention, if you try something and the family hates it you have to cook something else or order out.
So when your family is trying to tighten the belt, stick with what you know. Stick with simple recipes with fewer ingredients that you already know your family loves!

Money-saving tip of the day coming at ya!
If you ever plan on taking Dunkin Donut Munchkins into school as a special treat for your kiddos (like I did for my son today...HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY, CODY!) here's a gem of a tip for ya. Buy them the night before!
If you go after dinnertime they will not only drop the price frequently (I ordered 50 which should have cost about $10 - I paid $6) BUT they will also load you up with extra! They won't sell them again the following day so as the day comes to a close they are very generous. That box was overflowing and my son shared his birthday treat with his class as well as the other kindergarten class in his school. And he still brought some home!
I tasted one after school and they were just as fresh as ever.

It's time for your money saving tip of the day, my frugal friends!
Looking for some frugal entertainment for the family or a date night? Check out your local college and university websites and see what concerts, plays, festivals, or planetarium viewings they might offer. They are usually pretty inexpensive compared to bigger venues!

It's time for your money-saving tip of the day.
Last weekend I was shopping at the local Stuff-Mart and saw that they were selling these tools that telescoped up to the ceiling to clean cobwebs and whatnot. Really??? You don't need a special tool for that!
Save yourself some money and try this: take an old t-shirt and dampen it slightly with water. Toss it over top of your broom and you are all set to de-web (is that a real word?) your home!

Tip of the day comin' at ya!
Now that the weather is nice your family is bound to be having lots of outdoor adventures in the near future. Why not make up a "kit" for that purpose? It could consist of a backpack and be filled with things like a couple of dry snacks, a couple of bottles of water, sunscreen, and a mini first aid kit (is my kid the only one who gets a boo-boo at every park playdate?)
Keep your out and about kit near the front door so you can grab and go at a moment's notice. This will save you from having to stop at any convenience stores along the way.

Time for the tip of the day!
Ask around in your social circles and see who coupons. Sharing with fellow couponers is a great way to score the ones your family could use! For instance, I no longer need formula and diaper coupons (but I still get them in the mail after all these years). So I swap them with a friend for kitten and puppy food coupons, as well as coups for diabetic products.
