I have been thinking a lot lately about priorities, friends.
Awhile back I started this blog as a way to keep track of freebies and special offers I was interested in. And then people started commenting. I had an audience. And that is sort of a big deal when you are a stay at home mommy. You give up your career, you give up some of your old friends (you know the ones..the ones who are still single and kid-free and dancin' to a different beat), and you get lonely. Of course you adore your baby and love being with him as he does amazing things as he grows, but it can get lonely.
And I digress...
You get excited about all the attention and when someone "recognizes" you from the web in real life you swoon. You feel special because big companies are contacting you and want to be a part of your bloggy experience. You start pouring more and more time into blogging. Before you know it, you are fairly well known in the blogosphere. But at what costs?
I think Stephanie from Keeper of the Home said it best this week. Go over and check it out. I'll wait for you to get back...
So while I am not planning on leaving the blog world just yet, I don't think I will be writing online as much I used to. As much as I like doing this I love my family (which we are hoping to grow, no we are not pregnant but are awaiting our adoption to go through), my church family, and serving God with my gifts through teaching.
Keep an eye out for me on Twitter, as it is a quick and easy way to share freebies and deals!

I just had to pop my head in here to tell you all about Save-A-Lot's current promotion! You guys know how much I love that store, right? It is a very inexpensive source of groceries every day. But since Save-A-Lot realizes that this is a tight time of year for everyone, what with all the extra shopping for gifts and whatnot they are giving everyone a $5 off $20 coupon. Click here for this fabulous savings!
This coupon would be great to buy your family the makings of a great holiday dinner. Be sure to check out their site for a holiday menu suggestion, as well as recipes, other printable coupons, and the current sales ad.
*I was contacted by Save-A-Lot in regards to this promotion. They provided me with a $15 gift card to check out their promotion. Even though I was compensated with these products, I always give my honest opinions and findings, relating to the products and services. Save-A-Lot is already my store of choice for groceries and I would have bought my holiday groceries there even if they weren't so generous!*

Hello, my frugal friends!
Between preparing for my family's holiday celebrations and the ones at school I have been busy, busy, busy. I suspect most of you have been too.
My cookies have all been baked and packages up. Next on the to-do list: bake loaf after loaf of these tempting treats!

Several months ago I learned about Swagbucks from Money Saving Mom. All you do is register (it's free) and use their search engine for all your internet searching. Certain searches can win you some Swagbucks, in demoninations of 1-5, 10, 20, 50, or 100. Swagbucks can be traded in for gift cards to great places.
In the past few months I have earned over $300 in gift cards! As a frugal gal I had to give up my guilty pleasure of overpriced java, but with free gifts I can indulge at Starbucks. I also like to redeem my 'bucks for Amazon gift cards to score cheap books. Whoo-hoo!
Click here to sign up today. And once you join up you can refer friends and earn even more Swagbucks. How great is that?

Wow. I have totally and completely fallen off the menu planning bandwagon. My dreams of a simple holiday season have not panned out. Oops. But I am determined to get back on the horse this week! A little organization can go a long way in reducing stress...

This is a theme week: best gift tips!
As a teacher I have received a wide variety of gifts over the years. I appreciate every single one. Really, I do. The thought is what counts. But here are a few that I have received over the years that I really loved:
- Gift cards. These are handy, especially if you don't know someone's taste. Even one for $5 at Wawa (local convenience store for all you non-Jerseyans) or a coffee shop is great.
- School supplies. We teachers spend a lot of money out of pocket for classroom goodies. A surplus of supplies is always well-received.
- Stationary. Teachers write lots of notes. Lots. We can never have too many cutesy matching paper and envies or blank note cards.
- Fresh flowers/plants. Nothing brightens up a desk like a plant.
- A cute tote bag. Teachers are natural bag ladies. We carry them back and forth every day.
