Don't you just love yard sales? I love 'em!
This past weekend (yeah I am a little slow on the move this week with posting stuff due to a killer sinus infection) my mom and I jumped into my SUV and headed out in search of deals. And oh boy, did we find deals! I give this past weekend's adventure a big thumbs up.
Here's what I scored:
- 2 kids' lacrosse sticks, $1
- Kids' rain boots with adorable frogs, $1
- Pictionary game (yes, all the pieces are still in it!), $2
- Scruples game, $1
- 2 cases of Kinex, $5
- 1 bucket of Legos, $3
- NIP (that's new in package) My Little Pony figure, $1
- NIP My Little Pony sticker kit, $1
- 3 brand new Disney Princess book, 75 cents
- 1 slightly used book about going to kindergarten, 25 cents
*Not pictured...NIP Disney's Peter Pan action figure playset, $1 (son immediately confiscated and took to his room and has not been seen since...must be in a special, secret spot...LOL)
TOTAL SPENT = $17
I was stoked to find the games because another couple and us started a monthly game night. Brand new games run $20-30 so...wow! Every mom knows Kinex and Legos brand new will rob ya blind. And yes you are correct, we only have one child in our family and he's a boy. But we always hunt for NIP items to put away in our gift closet for birthday parties to come.
My mom was on a mission for slightly different goodies, since she has 2 teenagers at home. She scored several pieces of Abercrombie & Fitch clothing for $1 a piece. There was also some very cheap Hollister to be had. Seriously. I was in complete denial, because those stores are uber-spendy! We visited some really nice neighborhoods that had community-wide and multi-family yard sales. Very worth it.
So how about you? Had any great yard sale finds recently?

Earlier this week I shared what I knew about the new Huggies Enjoy The Ride program. Well I came across an awesome post over at NWA Deals telling you how to get 17 points, all without even buying any Huggies yet.

Ever see a printable coupon and wonder if it was legit? Now you can find out over at Cents Off, where counterfeit coupons are exposed.
One general rule of thumb I try to use when looking at a printable coupon circulating on the 'net is that if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. Of course there really ARE some genuine offers out there for free products, they should come from the manufacturers themselves and are typically for brand new products. Please note that coupons should have an expiration date on it and a place for the store to return it to. If it doesn't you have likely found a fake and will run into some serious problems trying to redeem it.

Do you have a Bank of America credit card? If you do then check out this list of over 70 museums who will give you FREE admission this weekend and the first weekend of every month!

This week Kristen (from We are THAT Family) is talking about her favorite blog tools. I thought and thought and thought. And I'm not entirely sure of which would be my favorite. But there IS something that I have totally been digging online lately.
Swagbucks.
You may have heard of it already and have heard that you can search it just like any other search engine. And certain searches may be a "hit" and earn you "bucks" to redeem for gift cards and other great prizes. But did you know that you can get your friends and acquaintances to sign up under you to earn even more bucks? Every time your friends win you get a buck too.
The only thing better than winning Swagbucks simply for searching (which I do every single day anyway) is winning Swagbucks for other people's searches!
Haven't signed up yet? Click here and sign up now! Thanks!
Have you signed up with Dove Dimensions yet? You should! It's a new online community that will give you beauty tips, free samples, gifts, and coupons. Click here to sign up and take advantage of an awesome opportunity. Once you do you'll immediately have the chance to print some money saving coupons for several Dove products.
Do you use your phone book(s)? We never do! Truth is, in this day and age we either use the good ole internet or GPS for all the info we need. I always feel like it is a waste of all that paper when they deliver them to us. Not to mention it seems like every time they come it rains that day and they get all gooey-ed up and stuck to the bottom of our driveway. Talk about waste!
I was surfing through my favorite blogs this morning and came across a gem of an idea---how to opt of phone book delivery. Check it out here!
White Castle is starting to think outside the box. In addition to burgers and fries they are now featuring pulled pork sandwiches. Click here to print a coupon to try one for free. Good through June 30th.
I've gotten several requests for the Crockpot Cabbage Rolls I plan to make this week. In all honesty I didn't include it because I thought I linked to it in a past Menu Plan Monday entry...but a quick search said otherwise.
So here is the recipe I've been using lately. I used to make these cabbage rolls, but sometimes I like to change it up, ya know?

Not too long ago I was stocking up on diapers by the case. Thank goodness our diaper days are behind us now, but when we were in the throes we had to shell out some serious dough! Huggies is joining the likes of Pampers who is trying to give something back to mommies who buy and buy and buy their products. Their new Enjoy the Ride program helps you earn points to enter sweepstakes and play instant win games on their site. Who knows, maybe someday soon they will add some other options for redeeming their points (like Pampers Gifts to Grow).
One cool thing is that you don't have to wait 'til the next time you buy Huggies to start enjoying the perks of this program! You can visit Freebies 4 Mom for a how-to so you can join and get 16 points today. Plus there is a bonus code right now that you can enter:
Take this survey and you can print out a coupon for Dots that is good for $10 off any purchase. No minimum purchase is required so a freebie is mighty possible at this discount clothing shop! Whoo-hoo!

If you're like me you may not want to put out the cold hard cash for the newspaper to be delivered. I know for me I would much rather read my news online and then not have to worry about finding someplace to store all that extra paper until recycle day comes (it's only every 2 weeks here). But then there is the issues of coupons. If there are good ones then I want in! So here is what I do:
On Saturday evening or early Sunday morning I head over to Keeping the Kingdom First and check out the coupon insert preview. If it sounds like a stellar week for coups I know I'll use then I will head on out to Dollar Tree to get my Sunday edition newspaper for just a buck. Maybe even 2 papers if there are a lot of high value coups. Remember you can always score extra coups by swapping your inserts with neighbors, friends, and family or checking out the coupon bin at your local library.
But at least you can count on the Kingdom First mom to give you a sneak peek to see if the newspaper is worth the buy!

Today's Dollar Watch is not at my usual favorite haunt, Dollar Tree, but at Target. I am pretty sure I have professed my undying love to Target's little dollar depot before. You just never know what you might find there!
Since Spring is here and everyone has planting on the brain, Target has tons of garden stuff. The best deals are the big ole bags of wildflower seeds. Seriously, that is a whole lotta flower seeds for a buck. They also have 3 packs of veggies seeds and some precious tiny pots that you just add water to and they grow a wee flower or herb. Super cute for the preschool set!
So get thee to Target!
People always ask me how it is possible to "really save" on groceries. They flip through their coupon inserts and just don't see how they can really make a difference. But they do, oh they do!
This week I want to share 2 video links by the fabulous Denise Sawyer from The "Cent"sible Sawyer. She features how to save big on groceries at Walmart and Kroger, but her strategies can be employed anywhere really. Watch and learn!
Congratulations to the following 3 readers, who are the randomly selected winners of a Romano's Macaroni Grill gift basket:
