- Invited some company over to finish off more of the previous week's party leftovers (tons of food and beer)
- Turned my nearly black bananas into banana muffins for snacks
- Transformed some stale bread into french toast for breakfast
- Persevered with the econo toilet paper we bought to try, hated it, but used it up anyway
- Traded a box of books with my mom instead of hitting the bookstore
- Hunted for a relative's old collection of Legos in the attic to give to my son instead of buying new sets
- Used vinegar instead of white wine in a recipe
- Substituted ramen noodles for angel hair pasta in a recipe
- Broke off a pencil's eraser and used it as a replacement back for an earring
- New shoes for me when the dog ate my black flats
- DVR for all of us
- Lattes before church for me and hubby
- Visiting the new indoor water park everyone is raving about (way too much $)

- We can make s'more in our own backyard, which beats getting dessert out in my book
- We love having friends and families over for potluck dinners and evenings spent around a fire (if the friends bring over a few brews that adds to the fun!)
- It allows us to sit out on nights that would otherwise be too chilly for us to be outdoors
- It keeps the buggies away from the patio, letting us sit on on milder evenings
- We now have a way to get rid of all the wood from the tree we chopped down last year
- I've been told that the ashes are good for the garden
