It's Frugal Friday!

Summertime has a way of making you long for a vacation, doesn't it? Seems like everyone you know is jetting off somewhere. And you'd like a change of scenery too, right? Of course you do!

But summer travel can be costly, what with air fare and hotel stays. A great alternative is to take a road trip to visit a friend or relative. Sit your family down and brainstorm some activities that everyone is interested in. Pick the top 3. Research the area using some great sites to find fun things to do off the beaten bath to fill in the rest of the time. Don't rule out regular summertime activities like swimming, fishing, or hiking. Doing them in a new place with a different group of friends or family is fun for kids!

Here are a few sites for you to help find unique things to do:

We took a road trip earlier this summer to visit my sister. We didn't really do much, but we got to enjoy each other, and my sons and her son played HARD! We had a great time, and it only cost us the gas and hotels (for the 2 day trip each way).
