Have you ever had any problems with stores accepting your coupons? Yesterday I had an awful time of it at Walmart. They were highly suspicious of some internet printable coupons I printed out from my email from two reputable product manufacturers.  They denied that they accept the coupons and even after I cited from their store policy, they continued to deny that I could use them. It was a long and agitating battle that ended with me getting my coupons taken off the bill but told it was "my last time".

The whole situation left me unhappy. I am an honest couponer trying to save a few bucks. I work hard at finding the best, legitimate sources of coupons.

I plan to print the store policy out and carry it with me from now on. I highly encourage you to do the same! Hopefully it will add to my credibility the next time I am questioned.

What a horrible experience. I find it is much easier with some cashiers than others.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Niki - this is exactly why I no longer shop at Wal-Mart. I have had issues with multiple area stores. I value low prices, but I value how I am treated as a customer also. I got tired of being treated like a thief with legitimate coupons. I haven't shopped there in months.

Walmart is horrible. I will only go now under duress. I know I can get some pretty good deals there and as frugal as I would like to be, they have made me mad enough that I don't think a few extra bucks spent at Kroger is as bad as the horrid experience I would have at Walmart!!!

Word of advice. I printed out and took the corporate policy with me one time to Walmart. They looked at it and said "Yeah, that is what it says, but we still don't accept them." And this was the manager saying it.

So glad to hear that I am not the only one that gets coupons denied at Wal-mart. It happens to me almost every trip. It is soooo annoying. Usually only about half of them will scan. I end up leaving several products with them at the counter, because I am not going to purchase it without the coupons. Maybe I need to print off your sheet and carry it with me. Thanks for posting the link.

I jsut had s prolbme very similar 2 weeks ago. I was told they would no longer be accepting internet coupons. They did for that trip (after I let them know that a manager approved it) but I called a few days later to speak with the store manager and they said as long as there is a watermark and they are not expired. Someone mentioned that they were not getting paid by the coupon company???? Not sure. It takes me too long to coupon shop to then have a problem in line...I already have to have an eagle eye while they are scanning them!

I had a problem at Walmart recently when a printable coupon didn't say, "Manufacterer's Coupon" on it. I even talked to customer service and they refused to take it.

A friend got hassled at a Kroger affiliate, Fry's, for trying to use a $3 Johnson & Johnson printed coupon. They said they don't take internet coupons more than $2. And now Albertson's (on the west coast, I think) isn't taking internet coupons at ALL. So yes, I am getting frustrated by it all. Being treated like a criminal who's trying to pay with a fake $100 bill is not something I take lightly!

I think the way the media is taking over the world, soon people will be less suspicious of printed coupons. Manufacturers will find ways to make sure they're authentic. Do people really think I'm cleaver enough to figure out how to make a bar code in Photoshop?? :)

That stinks! I always carry the Walmart coupon policy with me, but I've never had a problem yet. I hope they lay off next time!

I had that happen one time too, at Walmart. I told them to get a store manager because I use them all the time! They called one and that cleared it up real fast! Not the last time I am sure! If you didn't ask, ask for a manager, and if the cs manager doesn't agree ask for someone higher up!

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the comments this post is receiving. It is nice to see some new faces coming out of the woodwork!

It can be humiliating to be treated like a criminal while waiting on line. I try these tips I have heard from other couponers to avoid such problems:

-Always print coupons out in color ink.

-Be sure your coupons say "Manufacturer's coupon" on them.

-Check to see if there is a place for stores to remit coupons for reimbursement. THIS one is often a problem for the printables!

-Use only one of each coupon in a single transaction. Multiples of a coupon signal the possibility that you may have copied them, which is a no-no!

-Print the store's corporate coupon policy and carry it with you to reference if problems arise.

-Ask to speak with a manager if your coupons are denied.

:)

our wal marts now have a policy that they will take NO printables that go to Del Rio Texas which Ironically is the location that alot of regular coupons are sent. I don't get it. EVEN ift hey come directly off the maufacturer's page, they still will not take them.

Problem is that too many people have been producting too many fradulent coupons, and then there was that whole problem with the coupon generator on facebook that people called the company to verify that they were real, ad legit, the company said yes, then then refused to pay :-( Makes me mad!

WM is one store that I keep their cpn policy printed and in my binder. I haven't had to use it but have almost reached for it once. It's been awhile since I've used IPs there.
